Mentor training

For those members of the community who wish to take on a more active role, the Hero Program offers selected individuals with the opportunity to become mentors and assist our staff with the administration of the program. These individuals will receive instruction on all aspects of professional and youth training including how to identify candidates for the program, methods to ensure meaningful and effective interaction with youth, and how they will play an integral role in the training of each student. Responsibilities will also include:

  • Assist in coordinating community efforts between youth and members of law enforcement

  • Facilitate demonstrations for better education and understanding throughout the community

  • Provide follow-up and continual monitoring of each youth for additional mentorship opportunities

  • Develop a network to assess and communicate significant issues affecting the community and foster deeper relationships
